GUIDE TO BOOST FOLLOWING ON INSTAGRAM
February 23, 2016
1. CREATE A USERNAME THAT IS MEMORABLE AND EASILY SEARCHED
FOR
To ensure consumers can find you, create a memorable username
that is creative and synchronised across all your social media channels. Make
sure they all are the same otherwise you risk confusing your consumer.
2. CREATE A CUSTOM HASHTAG AND GET PEOPLE TO USE IT
By creating your own hashtag you are giving consumers a
direct link to communicate and engage with the brand whilst also generating an
online buzz and presence for the brand outside their own posts.
3. GIVE VALUE TO POSTS
Make sure each post is valuable; no one likes an account
that spams their page with loads of posts that are completely pointless. In order
to draw consumers in, offer them promotions, give-away’s, competitions or
advice. This will encourage consumers to visit your page more frequently.
4. POST CONTENT IN AN EXCITING AND INNOVATIVE LAYOUT
More and more brands are using Instagram as a promotional
platform therefore the competition is extremely intense so anything to make
your page stand out or attract consumers to visit is vital. By using current
content and language you are communicating with your consumer on a personal
level, but also if your layout follows a theme that replicates the current
campaign or range you are promoting the whole page looks professional, inviting
and engaging.
5. INCLUDE A CALL TO ACTION (CTA) OR AN INTERACTIVE POST TO
ENGAGE CONSUMERS
In order to get consumers engaging with your promotional
activity you must make your posts interactive and tell them what you want them
to do once they’ve landed on your page. This could be memes, gifs, or images
that produce a chain of events such as ‘Tag your best friend if you love her’,
in the picture or a direct link to the new collection, such as ‘Click the link
below’.
6. OPTERMIZE YOU ACCOUNT AND UTERLISE YOUR URL
URL’s in the bio and throughout your posts must be
available, for your website or other channels this is how you get consumers to
click through to purchase.
7. HAVE A HASHTAG STRATEGY
Do not overload your posts with thousands of pointless
hashtags. Have a strategy. The idea of hashtags is to make your posts appear in
consumer searches, such as ‘Fashion’, ‘Moschino’, ‘Phonecase’ or ‘Accessories’ these are all relevant to our
campaign so they make sense.
8. MESSAGE AND CONNECT WITH CONSUMERS AND OTHER BRANDS
Reply to consumer comments, listen to their requests and
collaborate with other brands online to increase your scope.
9. INTERGRATED
MULTI-CHANNEL
Make sure your entire social media channels, website, store
are all integrated, with links on each to encourage consumers to visit all.
10. TAG PEOPLE OR OTHER BRANDS IN YOUR POSTS
Through tagging people and brands in your posts it increases
the reach of the post and gains attention from people who may convert to buying
customers.
TOPS TIPS…
ALWAYS USE THE SAME FILTER
CROP AND BOARDER ALL YOUR IMAGES THE SAME WAY
POST PICTURES OF A SIMILAR SUBJECT
MAKE SURE ALL IMAGES ARE GOOD QUALITY
FOLLOW A THEME
This helped tremendously when considering each post on Instagram. Through outlining what is effective and researching popular Instagram accounts or Bloggers Instagram's it was evident that in order to engage and inspire a consumer you must post relevant content. Our campaign is focussed on a younger demographic who we know are avid users of Instagram through Beth's research into Generation Z's, therefore we needed to ensure all our content, language and theme focussed on capturing their humour and what they relate to.
